Sun Lakes AZ is an amazing community with 6,683 homes for people who are 40 and older or 55 and older. It’s like a big country club split into five neighborhoods, each with its own golf course and cool places to hang out. It’s great for people who love golf and even for those who don’t, with lots of activities and social clubs to join.

The homes in Sun Lakes were built over 30 years, so they look different and have different prices. You can find all sorts of houses, from single-family homes to attached villas, ranging from 1,000 to 3,500 square feet.

There are lots of house designs to choose from, all with great features. The five neighborhoods are Sun Lakes Country Club, Oakwood Country Club / Ironwood Country Club(Oakwood and Ironwood are also known as “Iron Oaks Country Club),Cottonwood Country, and Palo Verde Country Club, each with its own style. Sun Lakes Country Club was the first one. There’s a calendar that’s updated every day with fun things to do, like classes and trips. Each neighborhood has someone in charge of planning activities and lots of clubs to join.

Each neighborhood has a beautiful clubhouse with top-notch gyms, fancy restaurants, places for hobbies, heated pools, spas, tennis and pickleball courts, and big ballrooms. The community is full of green spaces, walking and biking paths, parks, fishing lakes, bocce ball and tennis courts. Golf fans will love the five championship golf courses.

There’s always something happening in Sun Lakes, making it a great place for an active and healthy lifestyle. It’s close to an airport, casinos, shopping malls, restaurants, healthcare, theaters, libraries, and more. You can easily visit the Superstition Mountains and several big lakes. Plus, Phoenix is just 20 minutes away.

*Per Federal and State Laws, Sun Lakes five(5) Communities (Cottonwood, Ironwood, Oakwood, Paloverde, and the original Sun Lakes community are age restricted at 55 plus. Sun Lakes voluntarily chose to allow up to 20% of the households to have at least one member age 4055.

Cottonwood Country Club

Cottonwood and Palo Verde Country Clubs are 40+/55+ gated communities at Sun Lakes AZ is one active adult community comprised of two country clubs that operate under one HOA and share all amenities. Cottonwood Palo Verde was named one of the top retirement communities in the country. The country clubs are located in the ‘heart’ of Arizona and the center of wine country. These communities are ideally situated above the high heat of the desert and below the cooler mountain temperatures. Robson Homes built 2,736 homes in this 1,120-acre development from 1979 – 1995.


Ironwood Country Club

Ironwood and Oakwood Country Clubs are 40/55+ guard-gated communities that share amenities. Most of the amenities for Ironwood are in Oakwood and go by the name of “Iron Oaks.” Ironwood and Oakwood have a “lock and leave” maintenance-free lifestyle. In Oakwood Country Club, you’ll live in the newest of the five Sun Lakes, Arizona, active adult communities, and shares the same homeowner association with Ironwood Country Club known as Iron Oaks. Oakwood has 3,285 single-family one and two-story and villa-style homes with all master suites on the main floor. A total of 734 single family homes were built from 1987 – 2001.

Oakwood and Ironwood Country Clubs are 40/55+ guard-gated communities that share amenities. Most of the amenities for Ironwood are in Oakwood and go by the name of “Iron Oaks.” Ironwood and Oakwood have a “lock and leave” maintenance-free lifestyle. In Oakwood Country Club, you’ll live in the newest of the five Sun Lakes AZ, active adult communities, and shares the same homeowner association with Ironwood Country Club known as Iron Oaks. Oakwood has 3,285 single-family one and two-story and villa-style homes with all master suites on the main floor A total of 3,285 residences were built from 19994 – 2006. Community offers residents numerous craft, sporting and social activities including fitness, golf course, pickleball, tennis, etc.

Palo Verde Country Club is a 40+/55+ gated communities at Sun Lakes, Arizona is one active adult community comprised of two country clubs that operate under one HOA and share all amenities. Cottonwood Palo Verde was named one of the top retirement communities in the country. The country clubs are located in the ‘heart’ of Arizona and the center of wine country. These communities are ideally situated above the high heat of the desert and below the cooler mountain temperatures.. There were 1,073 Single family homes constructed from 1983 – 1996.
