About Jarl Kubat

Twenty-two years helping people find home in Arizona’s 55+ communities — and a few interesting jobs before that.

Jarl Kubat, Arizona 55+ real estate specialist

Hi, I’m Jarl. For more than 22 years I’ve helped buyers and sellers find their place in Arizona’s active adult communities — first in the East Valley, and these days across the West Valley too. But before I ever handed anyone a set of keys, I wired their house, painted it, and — no kidding — climbed the trees out back. More on that in a minute.

My promise is simple: honest advice, zero pressure, and a real person on the other end of the phone.

How a Minnesota kid ended up in the desert

I was born and raised in Minnesota. By 2004, Arizona’s warm, dry weather was calling my name — my joints had strong opinions about one more northern winter. So my wife and I sold our house, my shop, and the family business in about three weeks flat and pointed the truck south. I started real estate classes one week after we arrived. I’ve never been good at doing things halfway.

The careers that got me here

Some folks collect stamps. I collected careers. I like to think of it as 20 years of unpaid research for the job I have now.

Construction electrician · 1986
I learned how a house really goes together, right down to the wiring behind the walls.

🎨

House painter · 1987
My very first job was inside a 55+ community in Apache Junction. I didn’t know it yet, but I’d just found my future.

🌲

Certified arborist · Minnesota, ~17 years
I grew my dad’s tree service into a real company and became one of the first 600 Certified Arborists in the country. About 85% of my customers were older adults — so I’ve been lucky to work with this wonderful crowd nearly my whole life.

From the East Valley to the West

I earned my Arizona license in 2004 and started out with RE/MAX in Chandler. Over the next 17 years I built my business in the East Valley and was lucky to work with more than 500 wonderful families — including over 150 homes in Sunland Village alone.

Then the grandkids moved to the West Valley from Minnesota, and, well, grandkids win. Five and a half years ago we followed them west. I still drive back to the East Valley several days a week to take care of longtime clients — once you’ve helped someone find home, you don’t just disappear. Today I work both valleys, and I know them well.

Why I love 55+ communities

These aren’t just neighborhoods to me — they’re my specialty and my favorite people. I know them street by street: the floor plans, the fees, the golf courses, and which community fits which person. Over the years I’ve learned that the right home is about the right fit, not the fastest sale.

A little hustle never hurt. Early on, I drove a golf cart around with sign riders and handed out bottled water with my name on the label. In 2007, I taught myself to build a website by buying eight books at Barnes & Noble and refusing to leave the office until it worked. These days I’m learning AI to do the same thing — stay useful and easy to find. The tools keep changing. Showing up doesn’t.

What it’s like to work with me

You’ll get honest advice, not a hard sell. You’ll always talk to me — not a call center. And whether you’re ready now or just watching the market for someday, I’m glad to answer questions at your pace. I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart for 39 years, so I’ve had plenty of practice listening well and being patient.

People ask when I’ll hang it up. My honest answer: the only day I’ll stop selling real estate is the day they finally drag me off the golf course. I love this work — and I’d be glad to help you love where you live.
