What’s Happening in Arizona’s 55+ Communities
Craft fairs, concerts, car clubs, card games, community-wide garage sales, and more — in short, this is our monthly guide to Arizona 55+ community events. It also covers the everyday activities and Arizona retirement community events across the Valley’s biggest active adult communities, West Valley and East Valley.
Updated monthly. Last updated: September 2026
There’s always something going on in Arizona’s 55+ communities — in fact, founder Jarl Kubat has spent 22+ years in and out of these neighborhoods. Above all, buyers tell us again and again that the calendar is half the reason they move here. Because of that, we put together this guide to Arizona 55+ community events — the regular clubs and activities, plus the seasonal events worth marking down. So whether you already live in one of these communities or you’re planning a retirement move, this is a good place to start.
A few honest notes: To begin with, we’re an independent real estate team — we are not affiliated with, or speaking for, any HOA or community association. Also, dates and details change often, so always confirm with the community before you go (we link each one’s official source below). Finally, this is not a complete list — these communities run far more than we could ever fit on one page. In other words, it’s a helpful starting point, not the last word.
If you see something that isn’t right for your community, please reach out, and then we’ll make the correction right away. Of course, always double-check the date and details with the community before you head out.
🍂 Right now: fall garage sales lead our Arizona 55+ community events
Fall is one of the two big community-wide garage sale seasons (spring is the other), so it’s a busy time to visit. Because these draw shoppers from all over the Valley, they’re also a fun way to see a community up close. Still, dates shift year to year, so confirm the exact date on each community’s page.
- The Grand (Surprise) — large semi-annual community-wide sale, spring and fall. Check the events calendar.
- Victory at Verrado (Buckeye) — Verrado’s community-wide garage sale is usually a Saturday in November; confirm the exact date on Victory events.
- Sun Lakes — IronOaks (Sun Lakes) — community garage sale typically in October. Watch the Sun Lakes Splash.
- Sunland Springs Village (Mesa) — holds a community-wide sale; date varies. See their community page.

Why Arizona 55+ community events matter in a retirement move
Founder Jarl Kubat has helped buyers plan a retirement move for 22+ years, so he knows the calendar often matters as much as the floor plan. For example, one buyer wants a busy club scene, while another just wants a quiet card game once a week. That’s why we look at Arizona 55+ community events with you before you pick a neighborhood.
Jarl also lives in Arizona Traditions in Surprise, so he sees how clubhouse life shapes a normal week. In other words, Arizona retirement community events are a real window into daily life. Of course, the best test is a visit. So pick an event marked Public, go see it for yourself, and then tell us what you liked. Also, because each community has its own style, it helps to visit two or three before you decide.

Common questions about Arizona 55+ community events
Arizona 55+ community events: dates and who can go
What kinds of Arizona retirement community events can I expect?
Plenty. In fact, between them these communities run craft fairs, live concerts and shows, car clubs, card and game groups, dances, fitness classes, hobby clubs, and big community-wide garage sales each spring and fall. Also, most communities post their own calendar, so we link each one above to show you what’s coming up.
When are the community-wide garage sales in Sun City, Sun City West, and the other 55+ communities?
Generally, most of the large community garage sales happen twice a year — once in the spring (roughly February through April) and once in the fall (roughly September through November). However, exact dates shift year to year, so check the community’s calendar linked above and confirm before you go. That way, you won’t show up on the wrong weekend.
Are these Arizona 55+ community events open to the public?
In general, it depends on the community and the event. For example, some are open to anyone (we tag those “Public”), while many clubs and amenities are for residents and their guests (tagged “Residents”). When in doubt, check with the community. And if you’re considering a retirement move, reach out, because we can often get you in to see one.
