The company that invented the active adult community, starting with Sun City in 1960. We serve eight Del Webb communities across both valleys — the three Sun Cities, The Grand, Sun City Festival, Sun City Anthem, Corte Bella, and the two Soleras — two of them still building new homes. The Farnsworth family built east Mesa’s answer to active adult living, starting with Dreamland Villa around 1960 and going on to the three Sunland communities. Known for low dues and real value. We serve all four — Dreamland Villa plus Sunland Village, Village East, and Springs Village.

It does, more than most buyers expect. The builder shapes the construction quality, the depth of the amenities, the age and style of the homes, and how well the community holds its value on resale. It’s also how a lot of people shop — if you loved a friend’s Del Webb or Robson home, starting with the builder is a shortcut to communities you’re likely to love too. The flip side: builder reputation is a starting point, not the whole story. Two communities from the same builder can differ a lot on price, gates, and golf, which is where we come in.
Buying a brand-new home? Whichever builder you choose, one rule matters: contact us before you visit a model or register on the builder’s website. Who builds the best 55+ retirement communities in Arizona?
There’s no single winner — each builder has a strength. Del Webb is the value-and-amenity standard and the original. Robson is the resort-golf leader, family-owned and upscale. Trilogy by Shea is the design and wellness leader, usually a premium buy. Farnsworth is the East Valley value builder. The best one is the one that fits your budget, your must-haves, and how you want to live, which we’re glad to help you sort out.
Which Arizona 55+ builders are still building new homes?
All but Farnsworth. Del Webb is still building at Sun City Festival and Sun City Anthem; Robson at Robson Ranch and (nearly done) PebbleCreek; and Trilogy by Shea at Verde River, Wickenburg Ranch, RidgeCrest, and possibly Encanterra. Farnsworth’s communities are all established and sell as resales.

We serve every community listed on each builder’s page above — all across metro Phoenix, West Valley and East. Del Webb and Robson also have communities in the Tucson area that we don’t serve; we note those on their pages and are glad to refer you to a trusted agent there.
