Province is gated, with controlled entry for residents and their visitors. In Maricopa, that combination of a gate and a lake setting makes Province stand out. Since gate details (staffing, hours, transponders) can change, we’ll confirm exactly how the entry works today when you tour.
Golf across the road from Province in Maricopa
Province doesn’t have a golf course inside the gates, and that’s fine, because there’s a good one right across the road. At last check, The Duke at Rancho El Dorado is a public 18-hole championship course a few minutes’ drive away, with generous fairways, desert scenery, and a clubhouse and grill (the Silver Spur) that are open to the public. As a result, you get golf on demand without paying for a course inside your HOA.
Worth knowing: the community does not own the course. So your HOA dues don’t fund golf, and green fees or memberships are separate. If golf is central to your decision, we’ll walk you through the current access and cost.
Pickleball and daily life at Province in Maricopa
Daily life here centers on the village center, the fitness and activity center, and of course the lakes. Any recreation courts belong to the community, so they come with your HOA membership rather than a separate club owner. Province gives you a choice of lifestyle. Single-family homes are the traditional option, with your own yard and your own maintenance. On the other hand, the villas (Gemini twin homes) are side-by-side attached homes built for lock-and-leave living. The villa HOA includes the exterior maintenance, so you can travel, snowbird, or simply skip the yard work.
So it’s the same community and the same lakes, but two very different maintenance pictures. In fact, the Province homes for sale at any given time usually include both. That’s also why the fees differ, as you’ll see below.

Province is a gated active adult community built around a village center, a fitness and activity center, and the lakes. It sits next to the Rancho El Dorado golf course, but the community does not own it, so play and fees there are separate from your HOA.

- No golf inside the gates. The course is across the road (a plus for the HOA budget).
- Villa vs. single-family fees differ, so compare what each covers.
- Maricopa is south of the main Valley, so check the drive to what matters to you. The City of Maricopa site is a good place to start on local services.
- Homes have been taking a while to sell (about 146 days lately), which helps buyers but matters if you’ll sell later.

Villas (Gemini twin homes) are attached, lock-and-leave homes whose HOA includes exterior maintenance, so they suit travelers and snowbirds. Single-family homes stand alone, with their own yard and upkeep. The fees differ because the villa fee bundles in that upkeep.
Does Province really have lakefront homes?
Yes. The community is built around lakes, so real waterfront homes come up for sale, and they have their own search button on this page. In fact, it’s one of the few Valley 55+ communities where you can buy on the water.
Golf, pickleball & daily life
Is there a golf course?
Not inside the community. However, The Duke at Rancho El Dorado, a public 18-hole championship course, is a few minutes across the road, with a clubhouse and grill open to the public. The community doesn’t own it, so your HOA dues don’t fund golf.
