There’s always something going on in Arizona’s 55+ communities. Founder Jarl Kubat has spent 22+ years in and out of these neighborhoods, and one thing buyers tell us again and again is that the calendar is half the reason they move here. So we put together this guide to what’s happening — the regular clubs and activities plus the seasonal events worth marking down. Whether you already live in one of these communities or you’re thinking about it, this is a good place to start.

🍂 Right now: fall community garage sale season
Fall is one of the two big community-wide garage sale seasons (spring is the other). These draw shoppers from all over the Valley — a fun way to see a community up close. Confirm the exact date on each community’s page, as they shift year to year. [VERIFY dates each season]
- The Grand (Surprise) — large semi-annual community-wide sale, spring and fall. Check the events calendar.
- Victory at Verrado (Buckeye) — Verrado’s community-wide garage sale is usually a Saturday in November; confirm the exact date on Victory events. [VERIFY date]
- Sun Lakes — IronOaks (Sun Lakes) — community garage sale typically in October. Watch the Sun Lakes Splash.
- Sunland Springs Village (Mesa) — holds a community-wide sale; date varies. See their community page.

West Valley
The Grand Public
A huge activity campus — live shows at the ballroom, a farmers-style market, fitness, arts, and dozens of clubs, plus the semi-annual community garage sale.

Sun City West Residents
One of the largest chartered-club systems anywhere — scores of clubs, concerts, and rec-center events. Many activities are for cardholders and guests; some shows open wider.

The Victory Club hosts events for the 55+ neighborhood, and the wider Verrado community holds a big fall garage sale in November.

Trilogy at Vistancia Residents
Resort-style living around the Kiva and Mita Clubs (members & guests), while the golf club, spa, and taproom welcome the public.

A gated country club community with member dining and social events. Most activities are for residents and members; the golf club posts some public dining and events.

Sunland Village Residents
An established, friendly 55+ community with an events calendar posted right on its site, plus the Sunland Village Journal.

Common questions
What kinds of events happen in Arizona’s 55+ retirement communities?
Plenty. Between them these communities run craft fairs, live concerts and shows, car clubs, card and game groups, dances, fitness classes, hobby clubs, and big community-wide garage sales each spring and fall. Most communities post their own calendar — we link each one above so you can see what’s coming up.
When are the community-wide garage sales in Sun City, Sun City West, and the other 55+ communities?
Most of the large community garage sales happen twice a year — once in the spring (roughly February through April) and once in the fall (roughly September through November). Exact dates shift year to year, so check the community’s calendar linked above and confirm before you go.
Are these community events open to the public?
It depends on the community and the event. Some are open to anyone (we tag those “Public”), while many clubs and amenities are for residents and their guests (tagged “Residents”). When in doubt, check with the community — and if you’re considering a move, reach out and we can often get you in to see one.
How often is this page updated?
We refresh it every month with the season’s events, and we update it any time a resident, club, or community group sends us something to add or correct. If you spot anything that’s out of date for your community, tell us and we’ll fix it right away.
Can I get my community’s event added?
Yes, please do. Residents, clubs, and fundraiser groups are all welcome to send us an event to post ahead of time — just reach out. We want this page to be genuinely useful for your community.
